Connect Meta lead forms to HighLevel or Follow Up Boss and prove it with a test lead
Connect your Facebook Page to your CRM, map the form fields, grant leads access, and send a test lead with Meta's Lead Ads Testing Tool without running an ad.

What you're building
A working connection where a submission on your instant form appears in your CRM as a contact with name, phone, email and your qualifying answers, proven by a test lead from Meta's Lead Ads Testing Tool, before any ad runs.
Why it matters
If leads sit inside Meta, nobody calls them. Meta's own download is manual; the CRM integration is what makes speed-to-lead possible. Testing with Meta's tool proves the whole path for free, so day 1 of the pilot is not the day you discover a broken connection.
What you need
- The finished instant form from chapter 8
- Admin access to the Facebook Page and full control of the business portfolio (HighLevel's guide requires admin of both the Page and the Business Manager it belongs to)
- HighLevel: admin access to the sub-account. Follow Up Boss: an admin (owner) user
Time and cost
- Time
- 30 to 45 minutes
- Cost
- $0 beyond your existing CRM subscription
Zapier is only needed for Follow Up Boss custom questions; Zapier pricing varies by plan.
Step by step
HighLevel: connect your Facebook Page
- In your sub-account, click Settings (bottom left), then Integrations.
- On the Facebook–Instagram card, click Connect.
- In the pop-up, log in to the Facebook account that is admin of your Page and approve the permissions, especially leads and Page data.
- Select your Page. For sync, choose New Leads Only for a clean pilot (or All Leads to import historical leads too).
- Click Connect and Continue. Look for the green Integration successful banner.
Check: The Facebook–Instagram card shows your Page as connected.
HighLevel: map the form fields
Open Facebook Form Fields Mapping and choose your form. Map name, email and phone to the standard contact fields. Create custom fields for your qualifying answers (for example
Owns Property,Property Address,Selling Timeline,Preferred Contact) and map each question. HighLevel warns that without mapping, lead data may not sync correctly.Check: Every question on SELLER_HI_v1 has a mapped HighLevel field.
Follow Up Boss: turn on the Facebook Lead Ads integration
- As an admin, go to Admin > Integrations and find Facebook Lead Ads.
- Connect your Facebook account and choose the Pages to link.
- Leads arrive tagged with the Page name and the lead form name. Form names over 64 characters do not produce a tag.
Check: Admin > Integrations shows Facebook connected with your Page selected.
Grant your CRM leads access in Meta
If leads access is customized for your Page (chapter 3), new CRM connections get nothing until someone with full control assigns access. Open Integrations > Leads access, select your Page, and confirm HighLevel or Follow Up Boss is listed under CRMs with access. Add it if not. Follow Up Boss's help also calls this out for Pages owned by a business account.
Check: Your CRM appears in the Leads access list for your Page.
Send a test lead with the Lead Ads Testing Tool
- Open the Lead Ads Testing Tool at
developers.facebook.com/tools/lead-ads-testingwhile logged in as a Page admin. - Select your Page and the form SELLER_HI_v1.
- Click Preview Form to enter your own test data (use your own name and phone), or Create Lead for dummy data.
- Click Track Status. Repeat until the CRM row shows success. A failed status shows an error code for that CRM.
- To test again, click Delete Lead first: the tool allows one test lead per form.
Test leads are organic: they are not tied to any ad and cost nothing. Your campaign stays a draft.
Check: The tool shows success for your CRM, and the test contact appears in HighLevel or Follow Up Boss within a minute with every mapped answer filled.
- Open the Lead Ads Testing Tool at
What success looks like
- CRM connected to your Page
- Every form question mapped (HighLevel) or a plan for custom questions (Follow Up Boss)
- Leads access granted
- Test lead arrived with correct name, phone, email and answers

How to test it
Run the Lead Ads Testing Tool twice: once with clean data, once with an odd phone format (for example with spaces and a +1). Confirm both arrive and the phone is usable for calling. Then delete the test contacts from your CRM so they do not count in the pilot.
Troubleshooting
HighLevel says the page is not visible.
HighLevel's guide says to recheck that you are admin of both the Page and the Business Manager it belongs to, then reconnect.
HighLevel shows a token expired prompt.
Follow HighLevel's reconnection prompt (its help center has an article titled "A Facebook Token Has Expired In Your HighLevel Account"), then send a new test lead.
Follow Up Boss says Facebook has become disconnected.
Its help center says this usually means the app's permissions were removed. Reconnect from Admin > Integrations and check Leads access in Meta.
The testing tool shows failed for my CRM.
Read the error code in the tool. The most common cause is Leads access customized without the CRM listed. Grant access and test again after deleting the old test lead.
Advanced technical details
Optional. You can follow every step above without these.
Technical detailsWhat happens under the hood
Each submission creates a leadgen event on the Page. Subscribed apps (your CRM) receive a webhook with the lead ID and fetch the field data through the Graph API using a Page access token. That is why Page admin rights, app permissions and Leads access all matter: remove any one and the webhook still fires but the CRM cannot read the lead. The testing tool shows the exact payload your endpoint received.
